Whoever reported the information for the 1900 census did not have all the facts straight. There are mistakes on the birthdates of individuals and they claim that Joseph was born in Wisconsin, which is incorrect. It also states Mary his wife was born in Wisconsin. I have found their birth records in the old country.

Sparks from Tractor Set Fire to Barn
Edw. Chaloupka, Francis Creek R.1, Suffers heavy Loss in Fire Today
Backfire from a tractor, which he was taking from a barn on one of his farms, near Fishervlle, two and a half miles south of Larrabee, at noon today set fire to the barn belonging to Edward Chaloupka. In addition to the barn and contents, consisting of farm machinery the granary and stables, together with a quantity of hay and straw were destroyed with a loss of $5,000 partly covered by insurance.
The Mishicot fire department which was summoned went to the farm home of Joseph Peroutka, located a half mile from the burning barn, and save the residents and barns on that farm, which were in the direct path of the burning embers. Several times the roof shingles caught fire at the Peroutka place but the fireman succeeded in extinguishing these fires.
Flames Spread Quickly
The burned buildings are located on a smaller farm owned by Mr. Chaloupka, Francis Creek, Route 1 and were used only for storage purposes by the owner. The farm house on the farm was occupied by the Wm. Frank family, renters but was not endangered. Mr. Chaloupka was preparing to take a tractor to his main farm for threshing operations and was backing the machine out of the barn when a spark set fire to some loose straw and in a few moments the interior of the structure was a roaring furnace.
It was impossible to save any of the contents of the barn, granary or stables.
